North Riding Eco-estate Moving Fast Thursday, May 17, 2007 (111 reads)
Olive Crest, a unique 20-hectare eco-estate that is being developed in Johannesburg's northern suburb of North Riding, is being snapped up. Reportedly 70 of the 107 erven have been bought and the estate is said to cost a total of R48m.
The high security estate is a joint project by ICA of Johannesburg and Rabie Property Group of Cape Town, which is renowned for its environmentally sensitive approach to development.
Situated between two major off-ramps to the N1, Olive Crest is easily accessible from the major centres of Sandton, Randburg, East/West Rand, Pretoria and Johannesburg and is a 10-minute drive from Lanseria Airport.

Four New Hotels For Sa Friday, May 11, 2007 (113 reads)
International hotels company InterContinental Hotels Group is to open four Express by Holiday Inn properties in South Africa, with the first expected later this year in Cape Town with a 161 room capacity.
This will be shortly followed by Sandton Woodmead and Pretoria Sunny Park in early 2008, with 160 and 300 rooms respectively. Umhlanga will open in 2009.
InterContinental has an exclusive agreement with Cape Town-based ISO Leisure to develop Express by Holiday Inn hotels in South Africa. All planned Express by Holiday Inn hotels will be located in the country's business hubs or in areas of high traffic flow.

It is quite staggering how negligent buyers can be when examining the plans for properties bought off plan in sectional title projects, says Lanice Steward, MD of Anne Porter Knight Frank.
"Our experience has shown that the agent cannot insist too much on making the client examine his plans. Time and again we have found that they have not fully understood what they have signed for. Then, when they awaken to reality, they find themselves either having to pay more to get what they want – or blocked because their changes would not fit the overall design."
Steward says buyers must realise that contractors buy in bulk and that the materials they offer have usually been secured at a discount. Any change, therefore, is likely to be expensive.
